Why We Built This Site
Kentucky does not place every criminal-history record in one public system. A Muhlenberg County sheriff report stays with the sheriff, detention records belong to the jail, and the Circuit Court Clerk keeps both District and Circuit case files. The Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch maintains centralized criminal-history information, which is not generally open to public inspection under KRS 17.150. The Kentucky Department of Corrections and Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry answer still different questions. Bringing the verified contacts, official search routes, fees, and request steps together makes that divided system easier to navigate.
What You Will Find Here

- Official check explanations: distinctions among AOC court-record products, KSP fingerprint-supported checks, and county source files
- Expungement information: the Kentucky certification and filing channels for a person's own eligible record
What We Cannot Do
Muhlenberg County Criminal History is a privately operated reference site, not part of a Kentucky court, law-enforcement office, or state agency. Those boundaries mean the site cannot perform official government functions:
- It cannot issue a certified court document, criminal record, or repository history
- It cannot run an official check or retrieve a government record for a visitor
- It cannot submit a records request, expungement petition, or other filing for anyone
- It cannot provide legal advice about a charge, warrant, case, or eligibility for relief
- It cannot promise that an agency's contact details, fees, or procedures have not changed
Only the originating office, such as the sheriff, Circuit Court Clerk, or Kentucky State Police, can provide or authenticate its official record.
Search Partners
Outside providers power search boxes that appear on some pages. Each provider controls its service, result matching, data practices, and prices. A paid enrollment reached through one of those tools may generate a referral payment that supports this free resource. Muhlenberg County Criminal History does not set partner fees or control the records returned by those services.
